Dean’s theatrical stage performances include the original Australian casts of Les Miserables and Chess at Sydney’s Theatre Royal, Mike Batt’s The Hunting Of The Snark at Sydney’s State Theatre, Piano Men at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre and Jesus Christ Superstar – The Concert Tour. His dramatic turn in Elvis Costello’s The Juliet Letters has led to further development of the stylised ‘Modern Art Opera’ and he plans to tour a new version for arts festivals in 2019.
Dean has been singing at a piano or performing on stage in Australia and internationally since 1984 - in addition to composing, arranging and producing musical theatre events - from Cabaret to Concerts to Cocktail Bars, including touring with Julian Clary in Natural Born Mincer. Dean continues to create and inspire new works for the stage. In collaboration with David Knox 'Seriously, Pet Shop Boys Reinterpreted', was a critical success at 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Dean has had great success as a private singing coach and performing arts tutor over the past 20 years. Many of his students have performed on Broadway, throughout Europe, Asia and London’s West End.
His ability to connect and instil confidence, especially with dancers & actors, is central to his singing techniques, extending into repertoire development, acting through song, vocal placement, breathing and physical continuity, tonal embellishment and performance techniques.
